The Ottawa Rowing Club, celebrating 150 years in 2017, is pleased to announce that Paul Hawksworth will be joining the ORC staff as Technical Director as of April 3, 2017.
As Technical Director, Paul will support the ORC’s Executive Director and it’s large and dedicated team of volunteer program coaches by recruiting athletes and coaches, building and contributing to innovative programming, and managing the technical aspects of rowing at the ORC.
Paul brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Ottawa Rowing Club as an athlete, coach and administrator in rowing. Paul has trained and competed as a junior, senior and, most recently, as a masters rower at the ORC. As a Rowing Canada certified coach, Paul has coaching and management experience at Victory City Rowing Club, Washington State University, University of Victoria and at the national team level having been a Rowing Canada National Development Coach and the National Program Manager for Para-Rowing. Paul is the recipient of several achievement and recognition awards including the Rowing Canada International Achievement Award in 2015 and 2012, the Coaches of Canada Certificate of Excellence in 2011 and the Rowing Canada U23 International Achievement Award in 2010 and 2004.

The ORC’s information meeting on April 5 from 7pm to 9pm at Glebe Collegiate is a perfect opportunity to meet Paul, as well as to learn about ORC’s programs and events in 2017. Whether you’re already a member, you’re thinking of rowing in 2017, you’re brand new to rowing or you’re a parent of a rower, everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend the April 5 meeting.
