The Ottawa Rowing Club, Canada’s oldest rowing club established in 1867, will be hosting the Tulip Relay Rowing Regatta on Dow’s Lake on Saturday, May 12. Racing will begin at 10am and wrap up by 12pm.
The second edition of this event will feature Ottawa Rowing Club rowers racing over a 250m distance of Dow’s Lake during the first weekend of the Tulip Festival. Crews will row 250m out, around a buoy and race the 250m back in a relay style competition that will feature single, double and quad rowing shells (boats).
Spectators are welcome! This is a fantastic opportunity to get a unique up close view of competitive rowing crews racing head to head. Join us as we celebrate the opening of the Rideau Canal, as well as the beautiful Tulip Festival and as we kick off the 2018 rowing season!
The Ottawa Rowing Club, founded by Canada’s first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald in 1867 is Canada’s oldest rowing club. Canada’s second largest rowing club offers programs including Learn to Row, summer camps, recreational and masters rowing, competitive and varsity rowing and para rowing. The ORC’s historic boathouse also hosts to many special public and private events in the downtown core.
