Ottawa Rowing Club Crews Strike Gold with Start of Royal Canadian Henley Regatta

Aug 11, 2017

Ottawa (ON) – The Ottawa Rowing Club kicked off an exciting period of racing this past weekend during the Royal Canadian Henley Masters Regatta in St. Catharines, ON, the most prestigious and high profile summer regatta in North America.

The ORC’s masters team ended a successful Henley Masters weekend with three gold medals in quad, double and single events.

This week (August 7-13) the ORC’s junior and senior competitive teams are competing at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. Qualifying heats took place during the early part of this week with finals starting Thursday and ending Sunday. More than 2,400 rowers from 137 clubs from across North America will compete during the six day event.

In today’s final events, ORC’s Josh King won gold in the senior men’s single in a time of 6:50.94. The ORC’s senior men’s lightweight straight four came a very close second in that event, just shy of a gold medal. Final racing action continues for ORC crews on Friday through to Sunday.
