NEW BRAND IDENTITY
The Ottawa Rowing Club’s new brand identity
Our History Reimagined
Based on our athletes’ feedback and the club’s changing needs, we have created a modern look and feel with a new ORC brand, including logo, icon, typography and colour palette that bridges our past and future.
We are excited to share this evolution of our history with everyone. We wanted a brand identity that is :
-
- Professional and clearly recognizable
- Easy to replicate online and on clothing
- References ORC’s extended history

Our new logo takes its three bands of colour from the oar blades and uniform used since the Club’s formation.
The curved shape of the three bands is taken from traditional rowing spoons merged with our current wider style.
As one of the oldest clubs in the country, we are sustained and challenged by the three rivers that make up our waterways. The three bands of the logo represent rivers and hold a strong resemblance to a flag – ensuring the design is striking and recognizable on the water.
The Club’s name is displayed in a customized, modern, easy to recognize font with stacked O.R.C. lettering as the Club is informally referred to. The letters are dynamic and sit in the middle of the spectrum between traditional and modern typefaces.

Our original club colours of Navy Blue and Cardinal Red remain. Additional secondary colours have been selected to focus on the blues of the water and the colours of the seasons.

The free font family Catamaran will be used for general club communication. Its angled edges mimic the logo styling and reference oar blades.

In keeping with remembering our history, the Club will use the original hand-drawn illustration from the archives as a formal crest. The crest will be featured on documents for special occasions.
Thank you everyone who contributed to this project. We look forward to unveiling our new brand on our website, outfits, and merchandise throughout the season.
