COVID-19 and the ORC: Update 3

Mar 24, 2020

The Ottawa Rowing Club (ORC) is continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and is adhering to the recommendations that Ottawa Public Health, Provincial, and Federal Governments have made with respect to helping prevent the spread of the virus. Consequently, the ORC will be officially closed for a minimum of 14 days with an earliest possible return date of April 6th. Please note, that the closure of the Club extends to all non-rowing specific activities including team training, dock installation, and boathouse rentals.

Additionally, ORC program registration has been temporarily suspended via the Club’s webpage. Program registration will remain on hold until we can confidently determine a date by which we can be open safely and responsibly and offer programming to our members.

A number of events have been temporarily removed from the ORC’s online calendar including:

        - Member Information Meeting (April 8th)

        - Dock Installation (April 25th)

        - Tulip Regatta (May 2nd)

        - ORC Ergatta (May 9th)

Once the Club has some more insight as to the potential progression of the season, we will determine alternate event dates where possible.

Lastly, in order to support all of our members training at home, the Ottawa Rowing Club has launched a 3 week #ORCmovestogether challenge on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The challenge aims to get members of the rowing community working out and motivated from the confines of their own homes all while staying connected to the sport and the people we love! Check out the Ottawa Rowing Club on Twitter (@OttawaRowing), Instagram (@OttawaRowingClub) and Facebook to get involved and enter to win some great prizes from David’s Tea, Biosteel, Starbucks, and Clifbar!

Please stay tuned to our website and the Club’s social media channels for more details and regular updates on the COVID-19 situation as we continue to adjust our plan for the safety and well-being of everyone in the ORC family.

Stay safe everyone.
