Ottawa Wedding Venue
How many people can the Boathouse accommodate?

One hundred people can sit down for a meal, and 125 people can be accommodated standing at a cocktail event.

When is the Boathouse available for events?

From early May until mid-October. The Boathouse is not heated, and cannot be utilized during the colder months.

Can we choose our own caterer?

Yes. At the Boathouse you have the flexibility to choose your favourite caterer. If you want suggestions or guidance, Boathouse staff will be happy to recommend suppliers that meet your needs and budget.

Can we stock our own bar?

Yes. You will need to get a Special Occasion Permit from the AGCO, and purchase all your alcohol on the SOP. The advantages include choosing exactly what you serve without worrying about corkage fees, and you can return any unopened bottles. A copy of your SOP must be provided to Boathouse staff a minimum of five business days in advance of the event.

Is there parking available?

Yes. There are 50 parking spots available for you and your guests. If your guests prefer not to drive, the private, but downtown location of the Boathouse is a short walk or cab ride from a selection of downtown hotels.

What equipment is available?

Indoor furniture:
12, 5-foot diameter round tables,

2, 6×2’7″-foot rectangular tables

2, 7’4″x3’10” foot rectangular “Bar” cabinets.

Linens, dishes, cutlery, chairs, glassware, additional tables, etc will have to be rented by a third party. You can view our recommendations on the main Andy Binda Boathouse page.

Is the facility wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately not. Though it meets all safety regulations, the only entrance for the hall is by the front stairs

Do we require special event insurance?

Those renting the Boathouse must have insurance. Insurance is available through the Boathouse staff, but may also be obtained yourself through an event insurance supplier of your choosing.

When can we access the venue for set-up and clean-up?

Set-up dates and times must be settled between you and the Boathouse staff. Generally, you are required to have cleared all personal goods and rental equipment from the Boathouse, as well as the key returned before 9:00am the day following the event. Extra setup and teardown time will be charged at $150 per hour.

A clean-up and late fee deposit of $500 is required. This will be returned to you after the event if the Boathouse is left in the same condition as it was received and as per specifications in the rental agreement. The clean-up and late fee deposit must be received with the signed rental agreement.

How do I book my event?

First, confirm availability of your event date and time with Boathouse staff. You can do so by emailing rowing@ottawarowingclub.com with your event details, or by contacting us on our booking page. Boathouse staff will provide you with a rental agreement by email. A signed rental agreement must be returned by email to Boathouse staff, along with 50% of the known rental expense. This deposit may be paid by etransfer. These simple steps secure your Boathouse booking.

Boathouse staff will invoice you for the balance of your rental a week prior to your event. Payment is due upon receipt. All deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
