Athlete Fund
Overview
The Ottawa Rowing Club Athlete Fund was established in 2008 for the purpose of assisting Ottawa Rowing Club athletes in rowing endeavours that help to promote the sport and the Ottawa Rowing Club at the international level. In 2019 the ORC amalgamated the Athlete Fund and the Brian Adams fund with the goal of supporting high performance members of the ORC as well as supporting current or prospective rowers who demonstrate financial need. Currently, the fund serves both of those groups with a two-prong approach for which any members of the club who meet the eligibility requirements can apply.
Financial Assistance.
The Ottawa Rowing Club is committed to helping all athletes experience the sport of rowing. The club offers flexible payment plans for registration fees, seasonal employment opportunities, and the ORC Athlete Fund.

High Performance Assistance
Team selection for various international competitions typically occurs very close to the event, giving athletes little time to raise money for foreign trips, when costs aren’t covered by national sporting organizations.
For some events such as the Pan-Am Games, World Championships and the Olympic Games, athletes’ expenses for the actual event are fully covered (other than personal expenses). For other events, the athletes are responsible for all or the majority of their costs.
The Athlete Fund is intended for these individuals. By supporting ORC athletes pursuing rowing at the highest levels in the sport, we are helping raise the level of athlete aspirations at the club. Not only do these individuals standas role models for our current members but they are ambassadors for the club.
Their success helps to solidify the reputation of the Ottawa Rowing Club as a competitive clubable to produce high performance athletes, therefore attracting more athletes to the club. But above, all by supporting our athletes we show them how proud we are of their
accomplishments.
Athletes wishing to receive support from the Fund should complete the application form and submit it to vp.competitive@ottawarowingclub.com
