High School rowing provides the opportunity for students to learn to row and compete with their classmates. The ORC is a proud supporter of the Ashbury, Canterbury, Glebe, and Lisgar rowing teams.  We also proudly support students from other Ottawa area school who wish to row high school in the spring.

The high school (U19/U17/U15) season starts April 1 and ends June 16, 2018.

Within this program, there are two categories:

Category 1 – High School AM
High School AM – Glebe Collegiate Institute
Club High School AM – Open to all athletes who rowed in the competitive or winter training program at the ORC

This program is for athletes who wish to compete only in the spring high school season. The athletes will train in the morning with the competitive program six days a week and may attend the ORC National Capital High School, ORC Tulip and CSSRA regattas. If an athlete decides to compete for the rest of the year after the high school season they can join the U19, U17 and U15 summer program.

Category 2 – High School Development PM
High School PM – Ashbury College
High School PM – Canterbury High School
High School PM – Lisgar Collegiate Institute
High School PM – Osgoode Township High School

Club High School PM – Open to all athletes, including experienced and new rowers, and participants in the Let’s Row Ottawa program

This program is for athletes who aspire to but aren’t ready for the full junior competitive program. They may compete in the ORC’s Tulip Regatta and National Capital High School regatta.

Practices are after school. Athletes from high schools with a rowing team should contact their coach about practice times and regatta information.

Athletes from other schools will belong to the Ottawa Rowing Club High School team and will be coached by ORC coaches. Practices will be Monday to Friday from 4 to 6 pm. Crews will be organized by school, gender and grade.

There will be a Spring Information Meeting for all ORC members on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Glebe High School beginning at 7pm.  This meeting is open to all and is an excellent opportunity to learn about the ORC, our spring opening, our calendar of events, to meet our many coaches and members and more.  There will also be a Spring Junior Parent Information Meeting on Saturday, May 5 at 9am at the Ottawa Rowing Club.  This meeting is open to all junior rowers and their parents.  This meeting is an excellent opportunity to learn about the spring rowing season, learn about upcoming regattas, training expectations, volunteer opportunities, and more.  Highly recommended for all junior rowers and parents, particularly if you are new to the sport of rowing!  As always, if you have questions before these meetings you can email rowing@ottawarowingclub.com for answers.
