The ORC will be hosting the first annual Tulip Cup on Dow’s Lake on Saturday, May 11, 2019, which is the opening weekend of the Canadian Tulip Festival. This regatta is open to experienced, competitive junior, senior, recreational and masters ORC members. Racing will take place between 10am and 12pm. All rowers will be expected to help with loading and unloading pre and post regatta.
The entry deadline is Friday, May 3, 2019. You must be a 2019 registered member of the ORC and Rowing Canada in order to enter the regatta. Click here to enter.
The course from the start/finish line to the turn around point is approx. 250 metres on Dow’s Lake. Crews race 250 metres, navigate around a buoy and race 250 metres back.
Two teams consisting of a coxed four, double, and single will race head to head. The coxed fours will race first, passing off to the doubles, and then the singles. Each team will be made up of a combination of juniors, seniors, recreational and masters. Teams will be determined by the ORC lead coaches and Technical Director.
Each rower/coxie pays an entry fee of $25 by cash or cheque to the Ottawa Rowing Club. The winning team will take home a cash prize of $480 (or $60 per team member). Remaining revenue from the event will go toward the ORC’s equipment fund supporting the purchase in new equipment.
The Relay teams, schedule, loading, unloading details and more info will be circulated and posted after May 3!
