ORC winter training 2016-17 at the Taggart Family YMCA

The Ottawa Rowing Club will return to the Taggart Family YMCA (180 Argyle Ave) for 2016/2017 winter ORC member training. Here are the details of the six-month ORC YMCA membership.  

Please complete this registration form and email it to anne.paliwal@ymcaywca.ca.  Then visit the Taggart Family YMCA to pay and finalize your pass.  

If you were a member of the YMCA last winter and still have your Y card,  please bring it in to the YMCA with you so it may be re-activated.

Rowing Canada’s Tony Zasada Memorial Fund award

Rowing Canada has released the application form for this year’s Tony Zasada Memorial Fund Award. 

This $2,000 award is provided annually to an athlete who best emulates Tony’s character and determination – many of Canada’s National Team and Olympic Rowing Team members are former award recipients and this year marks the award’s 31st Anniversary.

ORC at the Head of the Trent regatta

Members of the Ottawa Rowing Club returned from another successful Head of the Trent Regatta, held on October 1 in Peterborough.  

Top finishes by ORC, uOttawa and Carleton crews included:

Club men’s double (Matthew Fournier/Josh King) – 1st

Championship women’s single (Lilianne Page) – 2nd 

Varsity lightweight single (Mac Bruce-Fuoco, uOttawa) – 2nd

Varsity women’s 4+ (Carleton) – 2nd 

JV women’s 4+ (Carleton) – 2nd 

Club masters men’s 8+ – 1st 

Men’s lightweight 4+ (Carleton) – 3rd

Club women’s double (Lilianne Page/Dana Howell) – 1st 

Lighweight variety single (uOttawa – Alanna Fogerty) – 3rd 

Varsity lightweight double (uOttawa – Alanna Fogerty/Alyssa Pastic) – 3rd

Masters women’s double (Julia Fournier, Marcela Tendilla) – 2nd 

High school men’s 8+ – 2nd

Big thanks and recognition to the ORC and varsity coaches who coached crews at Trent, to our trailer drivers Cliff Brimmell and Lilianne Page for getting equipment there and back safely, to our parent volunteers who contributed delicious baked goods, chopped veggies and snacks for the ORC’s nosh table, to parent Jennifer Rae-Brown for her coordination and support, and to parents Ian Winter and Steve Chouinard who accompanied our juniors on race day.  THANK YOU!
